وَالَّيۡلِ اِذَا يَغۡشٰىۙ
— Transliteration
Wallayli itha yaghsha
وَالَّيۡلِ
wa-al-layli
By the night
قسم ہے رات کی
اِذَا
idhā
when
جب
يَغۡشٰىۙ
yaghshā
it covers
وہ چھا جائے
Urdu —
رات کی قَسم جب وہ چھا جائے (اور ہر چیز کو اپنی تاریکی میں چھپا لے)o
— English
By the night when it covers
وَالنَّهَارِ اِذَا تَجَلّٰىۙ
— Transliteration
Wannahari itha tajalla
وَالنَّهَارِ
wal-nahāri
And the day
قسم ہے دن کی
اِذَا
idhā
when
جب
تَجَلّٰىۙ
tajallā
it shines in brightness
وہ روشن ہو
Urdu —
اور دن کی قَسم جب وہ چمک اٹھےo
— English
And [by] the day when it appears
وَمَا خَلَقَ الذَّكَرَ وَالۡاُنۡثٰٓىۙ
— Transliteration
Wama khalaqa aththakarawal-ontha
وَمَا
wamā
**And He Who created
اور اس کی جس نے
خَلَقَ
khalaqa
created
پیدا کیا
الذَّكَرَ
l-dhakara
the male
نر کو
وَالۡاُنۡثٰٓىۙ
wal-unthā
and the female
اور مادہ کو
Urdu —
اور اس ذات کی (قَسم) جس نے (ہر چیز میں) نر اور مادہ کو پیدا فرمایاo
— English
And [by] He who created the male and female,
اِنَّ سَعۡيَكُمۡ لَشَتّٰىؕ
— Transliteration
Inna saAAyakum lashatta
اِنَّ
inna
Indeed,
بیشک
سَعۡيَكُمۡ
saʿyakum
your efforts
تمہاری کوشش
لَشَتّٰىؕ
lashattā
(are) surely diverse
البتہ مختلف طرح کی ہے
Urdu —
بیشک تمہاری کوشش مختلف (اور جداگانہ) ہےo
— English
Indeed, your efforts are diverse.
فَاَمَّا مَنۡ اَعۡطٰى وَاتَّقٰىۙ
— Transliteration
Faamma man aAAta wattaqa
فَاَمَّا
fa-ammā
Then as for
تو رہا
مَنۡ
man
(him) who
وہ جس نے
اَعۡطٰى
aʿṭā
gives
دیا
وَاتَّقٰىۙ
wa-ittaqā
and fears
اور تقویٰ کیا
Urdu —
پس جس نے (اپنا مال اﷲ کی راہ میں) دیا اور پرہیزگاری اختیار کیo
— English
As for he who gives and fears Allah
وَصَدَّقَ بِالۡحُسۡنٰىۙ
— Transliteration
Wasaddaqa bilhusna
وَصَدَّقَ
waṣaddaqa
And believes
اور تصدیق کی
بِالۡحُسۡنٰىۙ
bil-ḥus'nā
in the best
بھلائی کی
Urdu —
اور اس نے (اِنفاق و تقوٰی کے ذریعے) اچھائی (یعنی دینِ حق اور آخرت) کی تصدیق کیo
— English
And believes in the best [reward],
فَسَنُيَسِّرُهٗ لِلۡيُسۡرٰىؕ
— Transliteration
Fasanuyassiruhu lilyusra
فَسَنُيَسِّرُهٗ
fasanuyassiruhu
Then We will ease him
پس عنقریب ہم آسانی دیں گے اس کو
لِلۡيُسۡرٰىؕ
lil'yus'rā
towards [the] ease
نیکی کے لئے/ آسانی کے لئے
Urdu —
تو ہم عنقریب اسے آسانی (یعنی رضائے الٰہی) کے لئے سہولت فراہم کر دیں گےo
— English
We will ease him toward ease.
وَاَمَّا مَنۡۢ بَخِلَ وَاسۡتَغۡنٰىۙ
— Transliteration
Waamma man bakhila wastaghna
وَاَمَّا
wa-ammā
But as for
اور رہا وہ
مَنۡۢ
man
(him) who
جس نے
بَخِلَ
bakhila
withholds
بخل کیا
وَاسۡتَغۡنٰىۙ
wa-is'taghnā
and considers himself free from need
اور بےپروائی برتی
Urdu —
اور جس نے بخل کیا اور (راہِ حق میں مال خرچ کرنے سے) بے پروا رہاo
— English
But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need
وَكَذَّبَ بِالۡحُسۡنٰىۙ
— Transliteration
Wakaththaba bilhusna
وَكَذَّبَ
wakadhaba
And denies
اور جھٹلایا
بِالۡحُسۡنٰىۙ
bil-ḥus'nā
the best
نیکی کو/ بھلائی کو
Urdu —
اور اس نے (یوں) اچھائی (یعنی دینِ حق اور آخرت) کو جھٹلایاo
— English
And denies the best [reward],
فَسَنُيَسِّرُهٗ لِلۡعُسۡرٰىؕ
— Transliteration
Fasanuyassiruhu lilAAusra
فَسَنُيَسِّرُهٗ
fasanuyassiruhu
Then We will ease him
پس عنقریب ہم آسانی دیں گے اس کو
لِلۡعُسۡرٰىؕ
lil'ʿus'rā
towards [the] difficulty
تنگی کے لئے
Urdu —
تو ہم عنقریب اسے سختی (یعنی عذاب کی طرف بڑھنے) کے لئے سہولت فراہم کر دیں گے (تاکہ وہ تیزی سے مستحقِ عذاب ٹھہرے)o
— English
We will ease him toward difficulty.
وَمَا يُغۡنِىۡ عَنۡهُ مَالُهٗۤ اِذَا تَرَدّٰىؕ
— Transliteration
Wama yughnee AAanhu maluhu ithataradda
وَمَا
wamā
And not
اور نہیں
يُغۡنِىۡ
yugh'nī
will avail
کس کام آئے گا/ کام آئے گا
عَنۡهُ
ʿanhu
him
اس کو
مَالُهٗۤ
māluhu
his wealth
اس کا مال
اِذَا
idhā
when
جب
تَرَدّٰىؕ
taraddā
he falls
وہ ہلاک ہوگیا
Urdu —
اور اس کا مال اس کے کسی کام نہیں آئے گا جب وہ ہلاکت (کے گڑھے) میں گرے گاo
— English
And what will his wealth avail him when he falls?
اِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا لَـلۡهُدٰىۖ
— Transliteration
Inna AAalayna lalhuda
اِنَّ
inna
Indeed,
بیشک
عَلَيۡنَا
ʿalaynā
upon Us
ہمارے ذمہ
لَـلۡهُدٰىۖ
lalhudā
(is) the guidance
البتہ ہدایت ہے
Urdu —
بیشک راہِ (حق) دکھانا ہمارے ذمہ ہےo
— English
Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance.
وَاِنَّ لَـنَا لَـلۡاٰخِرَةَ وَالۡاُوۡلٰى
— Transliteration
Wa-inna lana lal-akhirata wal-oola
وَاِنَّ
wa-inna
And indeed,
اور بیشک
لَـنَا
lanā
for Us
ہمارے لئے
لَـلۡاٰخِرَةَ
lalākhirata
(is) the Hereafter
البتہ آخرت ہے
وَالۡاُوۡلٰى
wal-ūlā
and the first (life)
اور اولیٰ / دنیا
Urdu —
اور بیشک ہم ہی آخرت اور دنیا کے مالک ہیںo
— English
And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life].
فَاَنۡذَرۡتُكُمۡ نَارًا تَلَظّٰىۚ
— Transliteration
Faanthartukum naran talaththa
فَاَنۡذَرۡتُكُمۡ
fa-andhartukum
So I warn you
تو خبردار کیا میں نے تم کو
نَارًا
nāran
(of) a Fire
ایک آگ سے
تَلَظّٰىۚ
talaẓẓā
blazing
جو بھٹرکتی ہے
Urdu —
سو میں نے تمہیں (دوزخ کی) آگ سے ڈرا دیا ہے جو بھڑک رہی ہےo
— English
So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing.
لَا يَصۡلٰٮهَاۤ اِلَّا الۡاَشۡقَىۙ
— Transliteration
La yaslaha illaal-ashqa
لَا
lā
Not
نہ
يَصۡلٰٮهَاۤ
yaṣlāhā
will burn (in) it
داخل ہوگا اس میں
اِلَّا
illā
except
مگر
الۡاَشۡقَىۙ
l-ashqā
the most wretched
بدبخت
Urdu —
جس میں انتہائی بدبخت کے سوا کوئی داخل نہیں ہوگاo
— English
None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one.
الَّذِىۡ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلّٰىؕ
— Transliteration
Allathee kaththaba watawalla
الَّذِىۡ
alladhī
The one who
جس نے
كَذَّبَ
kadhaba
denied
جھٹلایا
وَتَوَلّٰىؕ
watawallā
and turned away
اور منہ موڑ لیا
Urdu —
جس نے (دینِ حق کو) جھٹلایا اور (رسول کی اطاعت سے) منہ پھیر لیاo
— English
Who had denied and turned away.
وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا الۡاَتۡقَىۙ
— Transliteration
Wasayujannabuha al-atqa
وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا
wasayujannabuhā
But will be removed from it
اور عنقریب بچالیا جائے گا اس سے
الۡاَتۡقَىۙ
l-atqā
the righteous
سب سے زیادہ پرہیزگار
Urdu —
اور اس (آگ) سے اس بڑے پرہیزگار شخص کو بچا لیا جائے گاo
— English
But the righteous one will avoid it -
الَّذِىۡ يُؤۡتِىۡ مَالَهٗ يَتَزَكّٰىۚ
— Transliteration
Allathee yu/tee malahuyatazakka
الَّذِىۡ
alladhī
The one who
وہ جو
يُؤۡتِىۡ
yu'tī
gives
دیتا ہے
مَالَهٗ
mālahu
his wealth
مال اپنا
يَتَزَكّٰىۚ
yatazakkā
(to) purify himself
کہ پاکیزگی اختیار کرے
Urdu —
جو اپنا مال (اﷲ کی راہ میں) دیتا ہے کہ (اپنے جان و مال کی) پاکیزگی حاصل کرےo
— English
[He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself
وَمَا لِاَحَدٍ عِنۡدَهٗ مِنۡ نِّعۡمَةٍ تُجۡزٰٓىۙ
— Transliteration
Wama li-ahadin AAindahu minniAAmatin tujza
وَمَا
wamā
And not
اور نہیں
لِاَحَدٍ
li-aḥadin
for anyone
کسی ایک کے لئے
عِنۡدَهٗ
ʿindahu
with him
اس کے پاس
مِنۡ
min
any
سے
نِّعۡمَةٍ
niʿ'matin
favor
نعمت میں (سے)
تُجۡزٰٓىۙ
tuj'zā
to be recompensed
جس کا بدلہ دیا جائے گا/ اسے دینا ہو
Urdu —
اور کسی کا اس پر کوئی احسان نہیں کہ جس کا بدلہ دیا جا رہا ہوo
— English
And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded
اِلَّا ابۡتِغَآءَ وَجۡهِ رَبِّهِ الۡاَعۡلٰىۚ
— Transliteration
Illa ibtighaa wajhi rabbihial-aAAla
اِلَّا
illā
Except
سوائے/ مگر
ابۡتِغَآءَ
ib'tighāa
seeking
تلاش کرنے کو
وَجۡهِ
wajhi
(the) Countenance
ذات/ رضا
رَبِّهِ
rabbihi
(of) his Lord
اپنے رب
الۡاَعۡلٰىۚ
l-aʿlā
the Most High
اعلیٰ کی
Urdu —
مگر (وہ) صرف اپنے ربِ عظیم کی رضا جوئی کے لئے (مال خرچ کر رہا ہے)o
— English
But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High.
وَلَسَوۡفَ يَرۡضٰى
— Transliteration
Walasawfa yarda
وَلَسَوۡفَ
walasawfa
And soon, surely
اور البتہ عنقریب
يَرۡضٰى
yarḍā
he will be pleased
وہ راضی ہوجائے گا
Urdu —
اور عنقریب وہ (اﷲ کی عطا سے اور اﷲ اس کی وفا سے) راضی ہو جائے گاo
— English
And he is going to be satisfied.
