وَالشَّمۡسِ وَضُحٰٮهَاۙ
— Transliteration
Washshamsi waduhaha
وَالشَّمۡسِ
wal-shamsi
By the sun
قسم ہے سورج کی
وَضُحٰٮهَا ۙ
waḍuḥāhā
and its brightness
اور قسم ہے اس کی دھوپ کی
Urdu —
سورج کی قَسم اور اس کی روشنی کی قَسمo
— English
By the sun and its brightness
وَالۡقَمَرِ اِذَا تَلٰٮهَاۙ
— Transliteration
Walqamari itha talaha
وَالۡقَمَرِ
wal-qamari
And the moon
اور قسم ہے چاند کی
اِذَا
idhā
when
جبکہ
تَلٰٮهَا ۙ
talāhā
it follows it
وہ اس کے پیچھے آئے
Urdu —
اور چاند کی قَسم جب وہ سورج کی پیروی کرے (یعنی اس کی روشنی سے چمکے)o
— English
And [by] the moon when it follows it
وَالنَّهَارِ اِذَا جَلّٰٮهَاۙ
— Transliteration
Wannahari itha jallaha
وَالنَّهَارِ
wal-nahāri
And the day
اور قسم ہے دن کی
اِذَا
idhā
when
جبکہ
جَلّٰٮهَا ۙ
jallāhā
it displays it
وہ اس کو ظاہر کرے
Urdu —
اور دن کی قَسم جب وہ سورج کو ظاہر کرے (یعنی اسے روشن دکھائے)o
— English
And [by] the day when it displays it
وَالَّيۡلِ اِذَا يَغۡشٰٮهَاۙ
— Transliteration
Wallayli itha yaghshaha
وَالَّيۡلِ
wa-al-layli
And the night
اور قسم ہے رات کی
اِذَا
idhā
when
جب
يَغۡشٰٮهَا ۙ
yaghshāhā
it covers it
وہ چھا جائے اس پر
Urdu —
اور رات کی قَسم جب وہ سورج کو (زمین کی ایک سمت سے) ڈھانپ لےo
— English
And [by] the night when it covers it
وَالسَّمَآءِ وَمَا بَنٰٮهَاۙ
— Transliteration
Wassama-i wama banaha
وَالسَّمَآءِ
wal-samāi
And the heaven
اور قسم ہے آسمان کی
وَمَا
wamā
and He Who
اور اس کی
بَنٰٮهَا ۙ
banāhā
constructed it
جس نے بنایا اس کو
Urdu —
اور آسمان کی قَسم اور اس (قوت) کی قَسم جس نے اسے (اذنِ الٰہی سے ایک وسیع کائنات کی شکل میں) تعمیر کیاo
— English
And [by] the sky and He who constructed it
وَالۡاَرۡضِ وَمَا طَحٰٮهَاۙ
— Transliteration
Wal-ardi wama tahaha
وَالۡاَرۡضِ
wal-arḍi
And the earth
اور قسم ہے زمین کی
وَمَا
wamā
and He Who
اور اس کی
طَحٰٮهَا ۙ
ṭaḥāhā
spread it
جس نے بچھایا اس کو
Urdu —
اور زمین کی قَسم اور اس (قوت) کی قَسم جو اسے (امرِ الٰہی سے سورج سے کھینچ دور) لے گئیo
— English
And [by] the earth and He who spread it
وَنَفۡسٍ وَّمَا سَوَّاٮهَاۙ
— Transliteration
Wanafsin wama sawwaha
وَنَفۡسٍ
wanafsin
And (the) soul
اور قسم ہے نفس انسانی کی
وَّمَا
wamā
and He Who
اور اس کی
سَوّٰٮهَا ۙ
sawwāhā
proportioned it
جس نے درست کیا اس کو/ ہموار کیا اس کو
Urdu —
اور انسانی جان کی قَسم اور اسے ہمہ پہلو توازن و درستگی دینے والے کی قَسمo
— English
And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it
فَاَلۡهَمَهَا فُجُوۡرَهَا وَتَقۡوٰٮهَاۙ
— Transliteration
Faalhamaha fujooraha wataqwaha
فَاَلۡهَمَهَا
fa-alhamahā
And He inspired it
پس اس نے الہام کیا اس کو
فُجُوۡرَهَا
fujūrahā
(to distinguish) its wickedness
اور اس کی بدی کو
وَتَقۡوٰٮهَا ۙ
wataqwāhā
and its righteousness
اور اس کے تقویٰ کو
Urdu —
پھر اس نے اسے اس کی بدکاری اور پرہیزگاری (کی تمیز) سمجھا دیo
— English
And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness,
قَدۡ اَفۡلَحَ مَنۡ زَكّٰٮهَاۙ
— Transliteration
Qad aflaha man zakkaha
قَدۡ
qad
Indeed,
یقیناً
اَفۡلَحَ
aflaḥa
he succeeds
فلاح پا گیا
مَنۡ
man
who
جس نے
زَكّٰٮهَا ۙ
zakkāhā
purifies it
پاک کیا اس کو
Urdu —
بیشک وہ شخص فلاح پا گیا جس نے اس (نفس) کو (رذائل سے) پاک کر لیا (اور اس میں نیکی کی نشو و نما کی)o
— English
He has succeeded who purifies it,
وَقَدۡ خَابَ مَنۡ دَسّٰٮهَاؕ
— Transliteration
Waqad khaba man dassaha
وَقَدۡ
waqad
And indeed,
اور یقیناً
خَابَ
khāba
he fails
ناکام ہوا
مَنۡ
man
who
جس نے
دَسّٰٮهَا ؕ
dassāhā
buries it
دبا دیا اس کو
Urdu —
اور بیشک وہ شخص نامراد ہوگیا جس نے اسے (گناہوں میں) ملوث کر لیا (اور نیکی کو دبا دیا)o
— English
And he has failed who instills it [with corruption].
كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُوۡدُ بِطَغۡوٰٮهَآۙ
— Transliteration
Kaththabat thamoodu bitaghwaha
كَذَّبَتۡ
kadhabat
Denied
جھٹلایا
ثَمُوۡدُ
thamūdu
Thamud
ثمود نے
بِطَغۡوٰٮهَآ ۙ
biṭaghwāhā
by their transgression
اپنی سرکشی کے ساتھ
Urdu —
ثمود نے اپنی سرکشی کے باعث (اپنے پیغمبر صالح علیہ السلام کو) جھٹلایاo
— English
Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression,
اِذِ انۢبَعَثَ اَشۡقٰٮهَاۙ
— Transliteration
Ithi inbaAAatha ashqaha
اِذِ
idhi
When
جب
انۡۢبَعَثَ
inbaʿatha
(was) sent forth
اٹھا
اَشۡقٰٮهَا ۙ
ashqāhā
(the) most wicked of them
سب سے بڑا بدبخت اس کا
Urdu —
جبکہ ان میں سے ایک بڑا بد بخت اٹھاo
— English
When the most wretched of them was sent forth.
فَقَالَ لَهُمۡ رَسُوۡلُ اللّٰهِ نَاقَةَ اللّٰهِ وَسُقۡيٰهَاؕ
— Transliteration
Faqala lahum rasoolu Allahi naqataAllahi wasuqyaha
فَقَالَ
faqāla
But said
تو کہا
لَهُمۡ
lahum
to them
ان کو
رَسُوۡلُ
rasūlu
(the) Messenger
رسول نے
اللّٰهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
اللہ کے
نَاقَةَ
nāqata
(It is the) she-camel
اونٹنی ہے
اللّٰهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
اللہ کی
وَسُقۡيٰهَا ؕ
wasuq'yāhā
and her drink
اور پانی پلانا اس کو
Urdu —
ان سے اﷲ کے رسول نے فرمایا: اﷲ کی (اس) اونٹنی اور اس کو پانی پلانے (کے دن) کی حفاظت کرناo
— English
And the messenger of Allah [Salih] said to them, "[Do not harm] the she-camel of Allah or [prevent her from] her drink."
فَكَذَّبُوۡهُ فَعَقَرُوۡهَا ۙ فَدَمۡدَمَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ بِذَنۡۢبِهِمۡ فَسَوّٰٮهَاۙ
— Transliteration
Fakaththaboohu faAAaqaroohafadamdama AAalayhim rabbuhum bithanbihim fasawwaha
فَكَذَّبُوۡهُ
fakadhabūhu
But they denied him
تو انہوں نے جھٹلایا اس کو
فَعَقَرُوۡهَا
faʿaqarūhā
and they hamstrung her
پھر کاٹ ڈالا اس کو
ۙفَدَمۡدَمَ
fadamdama
So destroyed
تو ہلاکت ڈالی
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
ʿalayhim
them
ان پر
رَبُّهُمۡ
rabbuhum
their Lord
ان کے رب نے
بِذَنۡۢبِهِمۡ
bidhanbihim
for their sin
ان کے گناہوں کی وجہ سے
فَسَوّٰٮهَا ۙ
fasawwāhā
and leveled them
پھر برابر کردیا اس کو
Urdu —
تو انہوں نے اس (رسول) کو جھٹلا دیا، پھر اس (اونٹنی) کی کونچیں کاٹ ڈالیں تو ان کے رب نے ان کے گناہ کی وجہ سے ان پر ہلاکت نازل کر دی، پھر (پوری) بستی کو (تباہ کر کے عذاب میں سب کو) برابر کر دیاo
— English
But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them].
وَلَا يَخَافُ عُقۡبٰهَا
— Transliteration
Wala yakhafu AAuqbaha
وَلَا
walā
And not
اور نہیں
يَخَافُ
yakhāfu
He fears
وہ ڈرتا
عُقۡبٰهَا
ʿuq'bāhā
its consequences
اس کے انجام سے
Urdu —
اور اﷲ کو اس (ہلاکت) کے انجام کا کوئی خوف نہیں ہوتاo
— English
And He does not fear the consequence thereof.
