اِذَا الشَّمۡسُ كُوِّرَتۡۙ
— Transliteration
Itha ashshamsu kuwwirat
اِذَا
idhā
When
جب
الشَّمۡسُ
l-shamsu
the sun
سورج
كُوِّرَتۡۙ
kuwwirat
is wrapped up
لپیٹ دیا جائے گا
Urdu —
جب سورج لپیٹ کر بے نور کر دیا جائے گاo
— English
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness]
وَاِذَا النُّجُوۡمُ انْكَدَرَتۡۙ
— Transliteration
Wa-itha annujoomu inkadarat
وَاِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
اور جب
النُّجُوۡمُ
l-nujūmu
the stars
تارے
انْكَدَرَتۡۙ
inkadarat
fall, losing their luster
گدلے ہوجائیں گے
Urdu —
اور جب ستارے (اپنی کہکشاؤں سے) گر پڑیں گےo
— English
And when the stars fall, dispersing,
وَاِذَا الۡجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتۡۙ
— Transliteration
Wa-itha aljibalu suyyirat
وَاِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
اور جب
الۡجِبَالُ
l-jibālu
the mountains
پہاڑ
سُيِّرَتۡۙ
suyyirat
are moved away
چلا دیئے جائیں گے
Urdu —
اور جب پہاڑ (غبار بنا کر فضا میں) چلا دیئے جائیں گےo
— English
And when the mountains are removed
وَاِذَا الۡعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتۡۙ
— Transliteration
Wa-itha alAAisharu AAuttilat
وَاِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
اور جب
الۡعِشَارُ
l-ʿishāru
the full-term she-camels
دس مہینے کی حاملہ اونٹنیاں
عُطِّلَتۡۙ
ʿuṭṭilat
(are) left untended
تنہا چھوڑ دی جائیں گی
Urdu —
اور جب حاملہ اونٹنیاں بے کار چھوٹی پھریں گی (کوئی ان کا خبر گیر نہ ہوگا)o
— English
And when full-term she-camels are neglected
وَاِذَا الۡوُحُوۡشُ حُشِرَتۡۙ
— Transliteration
Wa-itha alwuhooshu hushirat
وَاِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
اور جب
الۡوُحُوۡشُ
l-wuḥūshu
the wild beasts
وحشی جانور
حُشِرَتۡۙ
ḥushirat
are gathered
اکٹھے کردیئے جائیں گے
Urdu —
اور جب وحشی جانور (خوف کے مارے) جمع کر دیئے جائیں گےo
— English
And when the wild beasts are gathered
وَاِذَا الۡبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتۡۙ
— Transliteration
Wa-itha albiharu sujjirat
وَاِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
اور جب
الۡبِحَارُ
l-biḥāru
the seas
سمندر
سُجِّرَتۡۙ
sujjirat
are made to overflow
بھڑکادیئے جائیں گے
Urdu —
جب سمندر اور دریا (سب) ابھار دیئے جائیں گےo
— English
And when the seas are filled with flame
وَاِذَا النُّفُوۡسُ زُوِّجَتۡۙ
— Transliteration
Wa-itha annufoosu zuwwijat
وَاِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
اور جب
النُّفُوۡسُ
l-nufūsu
the souls
جانیں
زُوِّجَتۡۙ
zuwwijat
are paired
جوڑ دی جائیں گے
Urdu —
اور جب روحیں (بدنوں سے) ملا دی جائیں گیo
— English
And when the souls are paired
وَاِذَا الۡمَوۡءٗدَةُ سُٮِٕلَتۡۙ
— Transliteration
Wa-itha almawoodatu su-ilat
وَاِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
اور جب
الۡمَوۡءٗدَةُ
l-mawūdatu
the female infant buried alive
زندہ گاڑی ہوئی لڑکی
سُٮِٕلَتۡۙ
su-ilat
is asked
پوچھی جائے گی
Urdu —
اور جب زندہ دفن کی ہوئی لڑکی سے پوچھا جائے گاo
— English
And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked
بِاَىِّ ذَنۡۢبٍ قُتِلَتۡۚ
— Transliteration
Bi-ayyi thanbin qutilat
بِاَىِّ
bi-ayyi
For what
کس
ذَنۡۢبٍ
dhanbin
sin
گناہ میں
قُتِلَتۡۚ
qutilat
she was killed
ماری گئی
Urdu —
کہ وہ کس گناہ کے باعث قتل کی گئی تھیo
— English
For what sin she was killed
وَاِذَا الصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتۡۙ
— Transliteration
Wa-itha assuhufunushirat
وَاِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
اور جب
الصُّحُفُ
l-ṣuḥufu
the pages
اعمال نامے
نُشِرَتۡۙ
nushirat
are laid open
پھیلادیئے جائیں گے
Urdu —
اور جب اَعمال نامے کھول دیئے جائیں گےo
— English
And when the pages are made public
وَاِذَا السَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتۡۙ
— Transliteration
Wa-itha assamao kushitat
وَاِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
اور جب
السَّمَآءُ
l-samāu
the sky
آسمان
كُشِطَتۡۙ
kushiṭat
is stripped away
اس کی کھال اتار دی جائے گی
Urdu —
اور جب سماوی طبقات کو پھاڑ کر اپنی جگہوں سے ہٹا دیا جائے گاo
— English
And when the sky is stripped away
وَاِذَا الۡجَحِيۡمُ سُعِّرَتۡۙ
— Transliteration
Wa-itha aljaheemu suAAAAirat
وَاِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
اور جب
الۡجَحِيۡمُ
l-jaḥīmu
the Hellfire
جہنم
سُعِّرَتۡۙ
suʿʿirat
is set ablaze
بھڑکا دی جائے گی
Urdu —
اور جب دوزخ (کی آگ) بھڑکائی جائے گیo
— English
And when Hellfire is set ablaze
وَاِذَا الۡجَـنَّةُ اُزۡلِفَتۡۙ
— Transliteration
Wa-itha aljannatu ozlifat
وَاِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
اور جب
الۡجَـنَّةُ
l-janatu
Paradise
جنت
اُزۡلِفَتۡۙ
uz'lifat
is brought near
قریب لے آئی جائے گی
Urdu —
اور جب جنت قریب کر دی جائے گیo
— English
And when Paradise is brought near,
عَلِمَتۡ نَفۡسٌ مَّاۤ اَحۡضَرَتۡؕ
— Transliteration
AAalimat nafsun ma ahdarat
عَلِمَتۡ
ʿalimat
Will know
جان لے گا
نَفۡسٌ
nafsun
a soul
ہر نفس
مَّاۤ
mā
what
کیا
اَحۡضَرَتۡؕ
aḥḍarat
it has brought
اس نے حاضر کیا/ کیا لے کر آیا
Urdu —
ہر شخص جان لے گا جو کچھ اس نے حاضر کیا ہےo
— English
A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it].
فَلَاۤ اُقۡسِمُ بِالۡخُنَّسِۙ
— Transliteration
Fala oqsimu bilkhunnas
فَلَاۤ
falā
But nay!
پس نہیں
اُقۡسِمُ
uq'simu
I swear
میں قسم کھاتا ہوں
بِالۡخُنَّسِۙ
bil-khunasi
by the retreating planets
پیچھے ہٹنے والے کی
Urdu —
تو میں قَسم کھاتا ہوں ان (آسمانی کرّوں) کی جو (ظاہر ہونے کے بعد) پیچھے ہٹ جاتے ہیںo
— English
So I swear by the retreating stars -
الۡجَوَارِ الۡكُنَّسِۙ
— Transliteration
Aljawari alkunnas
الۡجَوَارِ
al-jawāri
Those that run
سیدھے چلنے والے
الۡكُنَّسِۙ
l-kunasi
(and) disappear
چھپ جانے والے (ستاروں کی)
Urdu —
جو بلا روک ٹوک چلتے رہتے ہیں (پھر ظاہر ہو کر) چھپ جاتے ہیںo
— English
Those that run [their courses] and disappear -
وَالَّيۡلِ اِذَا عَسۡعَسَۙ
— Transliteration
Wallayli itha AAasAAas
وَالَّيۡلِ
wa-al-layli
And the night
اور رات کی
اِذَا
idhā
when
جب
عَسۡعَسَۙ
ʿasʿasa
it departs
وہ رخصت ہوتی ہے
Urdu —
اور رات کی قَسم جب اس کی تاریکی جانے لگےo
— English
And by the night as it closes in
وَالصُّبۡحِ اِذَا تَنَفَّسَۙ
— Transliteration
Wassubhi ithatanaffas
وَالصُّبۡحِ
wal-ṣub'ḥi
And the dawn
اور صبح کی
اِذَا
idhā
when
جب
تَنَفَّسَۙ
tanaffasa
it breathes
وہ سانس لیتی ہے
Urdu —
اور صبح کی قَسم جب اس کی روشنی آنے لگےo
— English
And by the dawn when it breathes
اِنَّهٗ لَقَوۡلُ رَسُوۡلٍ كَرِيۡمٍۙ
— Transliteration
Innahu laqawlu rasoolin kareem
اِنَّهٗ
innahu
Indeed, it
بیشک وہ
لَقَوۡلُ
laqawlu
(is) surely a word
البتہ قول ہے/ کہنا ہے
رَسُوۡلٍ
rasūlin
(of) a Messenger
ایک پیام بر کا
كَرِيۡمٍۙ
karīmin
noble
معزز کا
Urdu —
بیشک یہ (قرآن) بڑی عزت و بزرگی والے رسول کا (پڑھا ہوا) کلام ہےo
— English
[That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger
ذِىۡ قُوَّةٍ عِنۡدَ ذِىۡ الۡعَرۡشِ مَكِيۡنٍۙ
— Transliteration
Thee quwwatin AAinda theealAAarshi makeen
ذِىۡ
dhī
**Possessor of power,
والا ہے
قُوَّةٍ
quwwatin
power
قوت کا
عِنۡدَ
ʿinda
with
نزدیک
ذِى
dhī
**(the) Owner of the Throne
والے کے
الۡعَرۡشِ
l-ʿarshi
the Throne
عرش (والے کے )
مَكِيۡنٍۙ
makīnin
secure
بلند مرتبے والا
Urdu —
جو (دعوتِ حق، تبلیغِ رسالت اور روحانی استعداد میں) قوت و ہمت والے ہیں (اور) مالکِ عرش کے حضور بڑی قدر و منزلت (اور جاہ و عظمت) والے ہیںo
— English
[Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position],
مُّطَاعٍ ثَمَّ اَمِيۡنٍؕ
— Transliteration
MutaAAin thamma ameen
مُّطَاعٍ
muṭāʿin
One to be obeyed
کہا مانا گیا
ثَمَّ
thamma
and
اس جگہ
اَمِيۡنٍؕ
amīnin
trustworthy
امانت دار ہے
Urdu —
(تمام جہانوں کے لئے) واجب الاطاعت ہیں (کیونکہ ان کی اطاعت ہی اللہ کی اطاعت ہے)، امانت دار ہیں (وحی اور زمین و آسمان کے سب اُلوہی رازوں کے حامل ہیں)o
— English
Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy.
وَمَا صَاحِبُكُمۡ بِمَجۡنُوۡنٍۚ
— Transliteration
Wama sahibukum bimajnoon
وَ مَا
wamā
And not
اور نہیں
صَاحِبُكُمۡ
ṣāḥibukum
(is) your companion
ساتھ تمہارا
بِمَجۡنُوۡنٍۚ
bimajnūnin
mad
کوئی مجنون
Urdu —
اور (اے لوگو!) یہ تمہیں اپنی صحبت سے نوازنے والے (محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) دیوانے نہیں ہیں (جو فرماتے ہیں وہ حق ہوتا ہے)o
— English
And your companion is not [at all] mad.
وَلَقَدۡ رَاٰهُ بِالۡاُفُقِ الۡمُبِيۡنِۚ
— Transliteration
Walaqad raahu bilofuqialmubeen
وَلَقَدۡ
walaqad
And certainly
اور البتہ تحقیق
رَاٰهُ
raāhu
he saw him
اس نے دیکھا اس کو
بِالۡاُفُقِ
bil-ufuqi
in the horizon
آسمان کے کنارے پر
الۡمُبِيۡنِۚ
l-mubīni
the clear
کھلے
Urdu —
اور بیشک انہوں نے اس (مالکِ عرش کے حُسنِ مطلق) کو (لامکاں کے) روشن کنارے پر دیکھا ہے٭o
— English
And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon.
وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى الۡغَيۡبِ بِضَنِيۡنٍۚ
— Transliteration
Wama huwa AAala alghaybi bidaneen
وَمَا
wamā
And not
اور نہیں
هُوَ
huwa
he (is)
وہ
عَلَى
ʿalā
on
پر
الۡغَيۡبِ
l-ghaybi
the unseen
غیب
بِضَنِيۡنٍۚ
biḍanīnin
a withholder
ہرگز بخیل
Urdu —
اور وہ (یعنی نبئ اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) غیب (کے بتانے) پر بالکل بخیل نہیں ہیں (مالکِ عرش نے ان کے لئے کوئی کمی نہیں چھوڑی)o
— English
And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen.
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوۡلِ شَيۡطٰنٍ رَّجِيۡمٍۙ
— Transliteration
Wama huwa biqawli shaytaninrajeem
وَمَا
wamā
And not
اور نہیں ہے
هُوَ
huwa
it
وہ
بِقَوۡلِ
biqawli
(is the) word
قول
شَيۡطٰنٍ
shayṭānin
(of) Shaitaan
شیطان
رَّجِيۡمٍۙ
rajīmin
accursed
مردود کا
Urdu —
اور وہ (قرآن) ہرگز کسی شیطان مردود کا کلام نہیں ہےo
— English
And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens].
فَاَيۡنَ تَذۡهَبُوۡنَؕ
— Transliteration
Faayna tathhaboon
فَاَيۡنَ
fa-ayna
So where
پھر کدھر
تَذۡهَبُوۡنَؕ
tadhhabūna
are you ing
تم جارہے ہو
Urdu —
پھر (اے بدبختو!) تم (اتنے بڑے خزانے کو چھوڑ کر) کدھر چلے جا رہے ہوo
— English
So where are you going?
اِنۡ هُوَ اِلَّا ذِكۡرٌ لِّلۡعٰلَمِيۡنَۙ
— Transliteration
In huwa illa thikrun lilAAalameen
اِنۡ
in
Not
نہیں
هُوَ
huwa
it
وہ
اِلَّا
illā
(is) except
مگر
ذِكۡرٌ
dhik'run
a reminder
ایک نصیحت ہے
لِّلۡعٰلَمِيۡنَۙ
lil'ʿālamīna
to the worlds
جہان والوں کے لئے
Urdu —
یہ (قرآن) تو تمام جہانوں کے لئے (صحیفۂ) نصیحت ہےo
— English
It is not except a reminder to the worlds
لِمَنۡ شَآءَ مِنۡكُمۡ اَنۡ يَّسۡتَقِيۡمَؕ
— Transliteration
Liman shaa minkum an yastaqeem
لِمَنۡ
liman
For whoever
واسطے اس کو
شَآءَ
shāa
wills
جو چاہے
مِنۡكُمۡ
minkum
among you
تم میں سے
اَنۡ
an
to
کہ
يَّسۡتَقِيۡمَؕ
yastaqīma
take a straight way
راہ راست پر چلے
Urdu —
تم میں سے ہر اس شخص کے لئے (اس چشمہ سے ہدایت میسر آسکتی ہے) جو سیدھی راہ چلنا چاہےo
— English
For whoever wills among you to take a right course.
وَمَا تَشَآءُوۡنَ اِلَّاۤ اَنۡ يَّشَآءَ اللّٰهُ رَبُّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَ
— Transliteration
Wama tashaoona illa anyashaa Allahu rabbu alAAalameen
وَمَا
wamā
And not
اور نہیں
تَشَآءُوۡنَ
tashāūna
you will
تم چاہ سکتے
اِلَّاۤ
illā
except
مگر
اَنۡ
an
that
یہ کہ
يَّشَآءَ
yashāa
wills
چاہے
اللّٰهُ
l-lahu
Allah
اللہ
رَبُّ
rabbu
Lord
جو رب ہے
الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَ
l-ʿālamīna
(of) the worlds
سارے جہان والوں کا
Urdu —
اور تم وہی کچھ چاہ سکتے ہو جو اللہ چاہے جو تمام جہانوں کا رب ہےo
— English
And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds.
