سَاَلَ سَآٮِٕلٌۢ بِعَذَابٍ وَّاقِعٍۙ
— Transliteration
Saala sa-ilun biAAathabin waqiAA
سَاَلَ

سوال کیا
سَآٮِٕلٌ ۢ

a questioner
سوال کرنے والے نے
بِعَذَابٍ

about a punishment
عذاب کا
وَّاقِعٍۙ
wāqiʿin
bound to happen
جو واقع ہونے والا ہے
Urdu —
ایک سائل نے ایسا عذاب طلب کیا جو واقع ہونے والا ہےo
— English
A supplicant asked for a punishment bound to happen
لِّلۡكٰفِرِيۡنَ لَيۡسَ لَهٗ دَافِعٌۙ
— Transliteration
Lilkafireena laysa lahu dafiAA
لِّلۡكٰفِرِيۡنَ
lil'kāfirīna
To the disbelievers
کافروں کے لیے
لَيۡسَ
laysa
not
نہیں ہے
لَهٗ
lahu
of it
واسطے اس کے
دَافِعٌ ۙ
dāfiʿun
any preventer
کوئی دفع کرنے والا
Urdu —
کافروں کے لئے جسے کوئی دفع کرنے والا نہیںo
— English
To the disbelievers; of it there is no preventer.
مِّنَ اللّٰهِ ذِىۡ الۡمَعَارِجِؕ
— Transliteration
Mina Allahi thee almaAAarij
مِّنَ
mina
**From Allah,
کی طرف سے
اللّٰهِ
l-lahi
Allah
اللہ
ذِى
dhī
**Owner of the ways of ascent.
جو مالک ہے
الۡمَعَارِجِؕ
l-maʿāriji
(of) the ways of ascent
عروج کے زینوں کا
Urdu —
(وہ) اللہ کی جانب سے (واقع ہوگا) جو آسمانی زینوں (اور بلند مراتب درجات) کا مالک ہےo
— English
[It is] from Allah, owner of the ways of ascent.
تَعۡرُجُ الۡمَلٰٓٮِٕكَةُ وَالرُّوۡحُ اِلَيۡهِ فِىۡ يَوۡمٍ كَانَ مِقۡدَارُهٗ خَمۡسِيۡنَ اَلۡفَ سَنَةٍۚ
— Transliteration
TaAAruju almala-ikatu warroohuilayhi fee yawmin kana miqdaruhu khamseena alfasana
تَعۡرُجُ
taʿruju
Ascend
چڑھتے ہیں
الۡمَلٰٓٮِٕكَةُ
l-malāikatu
the Angels
فرشتے
وَ الرُّوۡحُ
wal-rūḥu
and the Spirit
اور روح
اِلَيۡهِ
ilayhi
to Him
اس کی طرف
فِىۡ
fī
in
میں
يَوۡمٍ
yawmin
a Day
ایک دن
كَانَ
kāna
[is]
ہے
مِقۡدَارُهٗ
miq'dāruhu
its measure
اسکی مقدار
خَمۡسِيۡنَ
khamsīna
(is) fifty
پچاس
اَلۡفَ
alfa
thousand
ہزار
سَنَةٍۚ
sanatin
year(s)
سال
Urdu —
اس (کے عرش) کی طرف فرشتے اور روح الامین عروج کرتے ہیں ایک دن میں، جس کا اندازہ (دنیوی حساب سے) پچاس ہزار برس کا ہے٭o
— English
The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years.
فَاصۡبِرۡ صَبۡرًا جَمِيۡلاً
— Transliteration
Fasbir sabran jameela
فَاصۡبِرۡ
fa-iṣ'bir
So be patient
پس صبر کیجیے
صَبۡرًا
ṣabran
a patience
صبر
جَمِيۡلًا
jamīlan
good
اچھی طرح
Urdu —
سو (اے حبیب!) آپ (کافروں کی باتوں پر) ہر شکوہ سے پاک صبر فرمائیںo
— English
So be patient with gracious patience.
اِنَّهُمۡ يَرَوۡنَهٗ بَعِيۡدًاۙ
— Transliteration
Innahum yarawnahu baAAeeda
اِنَّهُمۡ
innahum
Indeed, they
بیشک وہ
يَرَوۡنَهٗ
yarawnahu
see it
دیکھتے ہیں اس کو
بَعِيۡدًا ۙ
baʿīdan
(as) far off
دور
Urdu —
بے شک وہ (تو) اس (دن) کو دور سمجھ رہے ہیںo
— English
Indeed, they see it [as] distant,
وَنَرٰٮهُ قَرِيۡبًاؕ
— Transliteration
Wanarahu qareeba
وَّنَرٰٮهُ
wanarāhu
But We see it
اور ہم دیکھ رہے ہیں اس کو
قَرِيۡبًا ؕ
qarīban
near
قریب
Urdu —
اور ہم اسے قریب ہی دیکھتے ہیںo
— English
But We see it [as] near.
يَوۡمَ تَكُوۡنُ السَّمَآءُ كَالۡمُهۡلِۙ
— Transliteration
Yawma takoonu assamao kalmuhl
يَوۡمَ
yawma
(The) Day
جس دن
تَكُوۡنُ
takūnu
will be
ہوگا
السَّمَآءُ
l-samāu
the sky
آسمان
كَالۡمُهۡلِۙ
kal-muh'li
like molten copper
تیل کی تلچھٹ کی طرح
Urdu —
جس دن آسمان پگھلے ہوئے تانبے کی طرح ہو جائے گاo
— English
On the Day the sky will be like murky oil,
وَتَكُوۡنُ الۡجِبَالُ كَالۡعِهۡنِۙ
— Transliteration
Watakoonu aljibalu kalAAihn
وَتَكُوۡنُ
watakūnu
And will be
اور ہم دیکھ رہے ہیں
الۡجِبَالُ
l-jibālu
the mountains
اس کو
كَالۡعِهۡنِۙ
kal-ʿih'ni
like wool
دھنی ہوئی روئی کی طرح
Urdu —
اور پہاڑ (دُھنکی ہوئی) رنگین اُون کی طرح ہو جائیں گےo
— English
And the mountains will be like wool,
وَلَا يَسۡـَٔـلُ حَمِيۡمٌ حَمِيۡمًاۚ ۖ
— Transliteration
Wala yas-alu hameemun hameema
وَلَا
walā
And not
اور نہ
يَسۡـَٔـلُ
yasalu
will ask
پوچھے گا
حَمِيۡمٌ
ḥamīmun
a friend
ولی دوست
حَمِيۡمًا ۖۚ
ḥamīman
(about) a friend
ولی دوست کو
Urdu —
اور کوئی دوست کسی دوست کا پرساں نہ ہوگاo
— English
And no friend will ask [anything of] a friend,
يُبَصَّرُوۡنَهُمۡؕ يَوَدُّ الۡمُجۡرِمُ لَوۡ يَفۡتَدِىۡ مِنۡ عَذَابِ يَوۡمِٮِٕذٍۢ بِبَنِيۡهِۙ
— Transliteration
Yubassaroonahum yawaddu almujrimu lawyaftadee min AAathabi yawmi-ithin bibaneeh
يُّبَصَّرُوۡنَهُمۡؕ
yubaṣṣarūnahum
They will be made to see each other
وہ دکھائے جائیں گے ان کو
يَوَدُّ
yawaddu
Would wish
چاہے گا
الۡمُجۡرِمُ
l-muj'rimu
the criminal
مجرم
لَوۡ
law
if
کاش
يَفۡتَدِىۡ
yaftadī
he (could be) ransomed
فدیے میں دے دے
مِنۡ
min
from
سے
عَذَابِ
ʿadhābi
(the) punishment
عذاب
يَوۡمِٮِٕذٍۢ
yawmi-idhin
(of) that Day
اس دن کے
بِبَنِيۡهِۙ
bibanīhi
by his children
اپنے بیٹے کو
Urdu —
(حالانکہ) وہ (ایک دوسرے کو) دکھائے جا رہے ہوں گے، مجرم آرزو کرے گا کہ کاش! اس دن کے عذاب (سے رہائی) کے بدلہ میں اپنے بیٹے دے دےo
— English
They will be shown each other. The criminal will wish that he could be ransomed from the punishment of that Day by his children
وَصَاحِبَتِهٖ وَاَخِيۡهِۙ
— Transliteration
Wasahibatihi waakheeh
وَصَاحِبَتِهٖ
waṣāḥibatihi
And his spouse
اور اپنی بیوی کو
وَاَخِيۡهِۙ
wa-akhīhi
and his brother
اور اپنے بھائی کو
Urdu —
اور اپنی بیوی اور اپنا بھائی (دے ڈالے)o
— English
And his wife and his brother
وَفَصِيۡلَتِهِ الَّتِىۡ تُــْٔوِيۡهِۙ
— Transliteration
Wafaseelatihi allatee tu/weeh
وَفَصِيۡلَتِهِ
wafaṣīlatihi
And his nearest kindred
اور اپنے کنبے کو
الَّتِىۡ
allatī
who
وہ جو
تُــْٔوِيۡهِۙ
tu'wīhi
sheltered him
پناہ دیتا تھا اس کو
Urdu —
اور اپنا (تمام) خاندان جو اُسے پناہ دیتا تھاo
— English
And his nearest kindred who shelter him
وَمَنۡ فِىۡ الۡاَرۡضِ جَمِيۡعًا ۙ ثُمَّ يُنۡجِيۡهِۙ
— Transliteration
Waman fee al-ardi jameeAAan thummayunjeeh
وَمَنۡ
waman
And whoever
اور اس کو جو
فِى
fī
(is) on
میں ہے
الۡاَرۡضِ
l-arḍi
the earth
زمین
جَمِيۡعًا ۙ
jamīʿan
all
سب کے سب کو
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
پھر
يُنۡجِيۡهِۙ
yunjīhi
it (could) save him
وہ بچا لے اس کو
Urdu —
اور جتنے لوگ بھی زمین میں ہیں، سب کے سب (اپنی ذات کے لئے بدلہ کر دے)، پھر یہ (فدیہ) اُسے (اللہ کے عذاب سے) بچا لےo
— English
And whoever is on earth entirely [so] then it could save him.
كَلَّا ؕ اِنَّهَا لَظٰىۙ
— Transliteration
Kalla innaha latha
كَلَّا ؕ
kallā
By no means!
ہرگز نہیں
اِنَّهَا
innahā
Indeed, it (is)
بیشک وہ
لَظٰىۙ
laẓā
surely a Flame of Hell,
یقیناً جہنم کا شعلہ
Urdu —
ایسا ہرگز نہ ہوگا، بے شک وہ شعلہ زن آگ ہےo
— English
No! Indeed, it is the Flame [of Hell],
نَزَّاعَةً لِّلشَّوٰى ۖۚ
— Transliteration
NazzaAAatan lishshawa
نَزَّاعَةً
nazzāʿatan
A remover
کھینچنے والی ہے
لِّلشَّوٰى ۖۚ
lilshawā
of the skin of the head
منہ کی کھال کو
Urdu —
سر اور تمام اَعضائے بدن کی کھال اتار دینے والی ہےo
— English
A remover of exteriors.
تَدۡعُوۡا مَنۡ اَدۡبَرَ وَتَوَلّٰىۙ
— Transliteration
TadAAoo man adbara watawalla
تَدۡعُوۡا
tadʿū
Inviting
پکارے گی
مَنۡ
man
(him) who
جس نے
اَدۡبَرَ
adbara
turned his back
پیٹھ پھیری
وَتَوَلّٰىۙ
watawallā
and went away
اور منہ موڑا
Urdu —
وہ اُسے بلا رہی ہے جس نے (حق سے) پیٹھ پھیری اور رُوگردانی کیo
— English
It invites he who turned his back [on truth] and went away [from obedience]
وَجَمَعَ فَاَوۡعٰى
— Transliteration
WajamaAAa faawAAa
وَجَمَعَ
wajamaʿa
And collected
اور جمع کیا
فَاَوۡعٰى
fa-awʿā
and hoarded
پھر سمیٹ کر رکھا
Urdu —
اور (اس نے) مال جمع کیا پھر (اسے تقسیم سے) روکے رکھاo
— English
And collected [wealth] and hoarded.
اِنَّ الۡاِنۡسَانَ خُلِقَ هَلُوۡعًاۙ
— Transliteration
Inna al-insana khuliqa halooAAa
اِنَّ
inna
Indeed,
بیشک
الۡاِنۡسَانَ
l-insāna
the man
انسان
خُلِقَ
khuliqa
was created
پیدا کیا گیا
هَلُوۡعًا ۙ
halūʿan
anxious
بےصبرا۔ تھڑ دلا
Urdu —
بے شک انسان بے صبر اور لالچی پیدا ہوا ہےo
— English
Indeed, mankind was created anxious:
اِذَا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ جَزُوۡعًاۙ
— Transliteration
Itha massahu ashsharrujazooAAa
اِذَا
idhā
When
جب
مَسَّهُ
massahu
touches him
پہنچتی ہے اس کو
الشَّرُّ
l-sharu
the evil
تکلیف
جَزُوۡعًا ۙ
jazūʿan
distressed
گھبرا اٹھتا ہے
Urdu —
جب اسے مصیبت (یا مالی نقصان) پہنچے تو گھبرا جاتا ہےo
— English
When evil touches him, impatient,
وَاِذَا مَسَّهُ الۡخَيۡرُ مَنُوۡعًاۙ
— Transliteration
Wa-itha massahu alkhayru manooAAa
وَاِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
اور جب
مَسَّهُ
massahu
touches him
پہنچتی ہے اس کو
الۡخَيۡرُ
l-khayru
the od
بھلائی
مَنُوۡعًا ۙ
manūʿan
withholding
بخل کرنے لگتا ہے۔ روکنے لگتا ہے
Urdu —
اور جب اسے بھلائی (یا مالی فراخی) حاصل ہو تو بخل کرتا ہےo
— English
And when good touches him, withholding [of it],
اِلَّا الۡمُصَلِّيۡنَۙ
— Transliteration
Illa almusalleen
اِلَّا
illā
Except
سوائے
الۡمُصَلِّيۡنَۙ
l-muṣalīna
those who pray
نمازیوں کے
Urdu —
مگر وہ نماز ادا کرنے والےo
— English
Except the observers of prayer -
الَّذِيۡنَ هُمۡ عَلٰى صَلَاتِهِمۡ دَآٮِٕمُوۡنَۙ
— Transliteration
Allatheena hum AAala salatihimda-imoon
الَّذِيۡنَ
alladhīna
Those who
وہ نمازی
هُمۡ
hum
[they]
وہ
عَلٰى
ʿalā
at
پر
صَلَاتِهِمۡ
ṣalātihim
their prayer
اپنی نمازوں (پر)
دَآٮِٕمُوۡنَۙ
dāimūna
(are) constant
دوام اختیار کرنے والے ہیں
Urdu —
جو اپنی نماز پر ہمیشگی قائم رکھنے والے ہیںo
— English
Those who are constant in their prayer
وَالَّذِيۡنَ فِىۡۤ اَمۡوَالِهِمۡ حَقٌّ مَّعۡلُوۡمٌۙ
— Transliteration
Wallatheena fee amwalihimhaqqun maAAloom
وَالَّذِيۡنَ
wa-alladhīna
And those who
اور وہ لوگ
فِىۡۤ
fī
in
میں
اَمۡوَالِهِمۡ
amwālihim
their wealth
ان کے مالوں
حَقٌّ
ḥaqqun
(is) a right
حق ہے
مَّعۡلُوۡمٌۙ
maʿlūmun
known
معلوم۔ مقرر
Urdu —
اور وہ (ایثار کیش) لوگ جن کے اَموال میں حصہ مقرر ہےo
— English
And those within whose wealth is a known right
لِّلسَّآٮِٕلِ وَالۡمَحۡرُوۡمِۙ
— Transliteration
Lissa-ili walmahroom
لِّلسَّآٮِٕلِ
lilssāili
For the one who asks
سوالی کے لیے
وَالۡمَحۡرُوۡمِۙ
wal-maḥrūmi
and the deprived
اور محروم کے لیے
Urdu —
مانگنے والے اور نہ مانگنے والے محتاج کاo
— English
For the petitioner and the deprived -
وَالَّذِيۡنَ يُصَدِّقُوۡنَ بِيَوۡمِ الدِّيۡنِۙ
— Transliteration
Wallatheena yusaddiqoonabiyawmi addeen
وَالَّذِيۡنَ
wa-alladhīna
And those who
اور وہ لوگ
يُصَدِّقُوۡنَ
yuṣaddiqūna
accept (the) truth
جو تصدیق کرتے ہیں
بِيَوۡمِ
biyawmi
(of the) Day
روز
الدِّيۡنِۙ
l-dīni
(of) the Judgment
جزا کی
Urdu —
اور وہ لوگ جو روزِ جزا کی تصدیق کرتے ہیںo
— English
And those who believe in the Day of Recompense
وَالَّذِيۡنَ هُمۡ مِّنۡ عَذَابِ رَبِّهِمۡ مُّشۡفِقُوۡنَۚ
— Transliteration
Wallatheena hum min AAathabirabbihim mushfiqoon
وَالَّذِيۡنَ
wa-alladhīna
And those who
اور وہ لوگ
هُمۡ
hum
[they]
وہ
مِّنۡ
min
of
سے
عَذَابِ
ʿadhābi
(the) punishment
عذاب
رَبِّهِمۡ
rabbihim
(of) their Lord
اپنے رب کے
مُّشۡفِقُوۡنَۚ
mush'fiqūna
(are) fearful
ڈرنے والے ہیں
Urdu —
اور وہ لوگ جو اپنے رب کے عذاب سے ڈرنے والے ہیںo
— English
And those who are fearful of the punishment of their Lord -
اِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّهِمۡ غَيۡرُ مَاۡمُوۡنٍ
— Transliteration
Inna AAathaba rabbihim ghayru ma/moon
اِنَّ
inna
Indeed,
بیشک
عَذَابَ
ʿadhāba
(the) punishment
عذاب
رَبِّهِمۡ
rabbihim
(of) your Lord
ان کے رب کا
غَيۡرُ
ghayru
(is) not
نہیں
مَاۡمُوۡنٍ
mamūnin
to be felt secure (of)
بےخوف ہونے کی چیز
Urdu —
بے شک ان کے رب کا عذاب ایسا نہیں جس سے بے خوف ہوا جائےo
— English
Indeed, the punishment of their Lord is not that from which one is safe -
وَالَّذِيۡنَ هُمۡ لِفُرُوۡجِهِمۡ حٰفِظُوۡنَۙ
— Transliteration
Wallatheena hum lifuroojihim hafithoon
وَالَّذِيۡنَ
wa-alladhīna
And those who
اور وہ لوگ
هُمۡ
hum
[they]
وہ
لِفُرُوۡجِهِمۡ
lifurūjihim
their modesty
اپنی شرمگاہوں کے لیے
حٰفِظُوۡنَۙ
ḥāfiẓūna
(are) guardians
حفاظت کرنے والے ہیں
Urdu —
اور وہ لوگ جو اپنی شرم گاہوں کی حفاظت کرتے ہیںo
— English
And those who guard their private parts
اِلَّا عَلٰٓى اَزۡوَاجِهِمۡ اَوۡ مَا مَلَـكَتۡ اَيۡمَانُهُمۡ فَاِنَّهُمۡ غَيۡرُ مَلُوۡمِيۡنَۚ
— Transliteration
Illa AAala azwajihim awma malakat aymanuhum fa-innahum ghayru maloomeen
اِلَّا
illā
Except
سوائے
عَلٰٓى
ʿalā
from
اوپر
اَزۡوَاجِهِمۡ
azwājihim
their spouses
اپنی بیویوں کے
اَوۡ
aw
or
یا
مَا
mā
what
جو
مَلَـكَتۡ
malakat
they possess
مالک ہوئے
اَيۡمَانُهُمۡ
aymānuhum
rightfully
ان کے دائیں ہاتھ
فَاِنَّهُمۡ
fa-innahum
then indeed, they
تو بیشک وہ
غَيۡرُ
ghayru
(are) not
نہیں
مَلُوۡمِيۡنَۚ
malūmīna
blameworthy
ملامت کیے گئے
Urdu —
سوائے اپنی منکوحہ بیویوں کے یا اپنی مملوکہ کنیزوں کے، سو (اِس میں) اُن پر کوئی ملامت نہیںo
— English
Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed -
فَمَنِ ابۡتَغٰى وَرَآءَ ذٰلِكَ فَاُولٰٓٮِٕكَ هُمُ الۡعَادُوۡنَۚ
— Transliteration
Famani ibtagha waraa thalikafaola-ika humu alAAadoon
فَمَنِ
famani
But whoever
پھر جو کوئی
ابۡتَغٰى
ib'taghā
seeks
تلاش کرے
وَرَآءَ
warāa
beyond
علاوہ
ذٰلِكَ
dhālika
that,
اس کے
فَاُولٰٓٮِٕكَ
fa-ulāika
then those
تو یہی لوگ
هُمُ
humu
[they]
وہ
الۡعٰدُوۡنَۚ
l-ʿādūna
(are) the transgressors
حد سے بڑھنے والے ہیں
Urdu —
سو جو ان کے علاوہ طلب کرے تو وہی لوگ حد سے گزرنے والے ہیںo
— English
But whoever seeks beyond that, then they are the transgressors -
وَالَّذِيۡنَ هُمۡ لِاَمٰنٰتِهِمۡ وَعَهۡدِهِمۡ رَاعُوۡنَ ۙ
— Transliteration
Wallatheena hum li-amanatihimwaAAahdihim raAAoon
وَالَّذِيۡنَ
wa-alladhīna
And those who
اور وہ لوگ
هُمۡ
hum
[they]
وہ
لِاَمٰنٰتِهِمۡ
li-amānātihim
of their trusts
اپنی امانتوں کے لیے
وَعَهۡدِهِمۡ
waʿahdihim
and their promise
اور اپنے وعدوں کے
رٰعُوۡنَ ۙ
rāʿūna
(are) observers
نگران ہیں
Urdu —
اور وہ لوگ جو اپنی امانتوں اور اپنے وعدوں کی نگہداشت کرتے ہیںo
— English
And those who are to their trusts and promises attentive
وَالَّذِيۡنَ هُمۡ بِشَهٰدٰتِهِمۡ قَآٮِٕمُوۡنَ ۙ
— Transliteration
Wallatheena hum bishahadatihimqa-imoon
وَالَّذِيۡنَ
wa-alladhīna
And those who
اور وہ لوگ
هُمۡ
hum
[they]
وہ
بِشَهٰدٰتِهِمۡ
bishahādātihim
in their testimonies
اپنی گواہیوں پر
قَآٮِٕمُوۡنَ ۙ
qāimūna
stand firm
قائم رہنے والے ہیں
Urdu —
اور وہ لوگ جو اپنی گواہیوں پر قائم رہتے ہیںo
— English
And those who are in their testimonies upright
وَالَّذِيۡنَ هُمۡ عَلٰى صَلَاتِهِمۡ يُحَافِظُوۡنَؕ
— Transliteration
Wallatheena hum AAala salatihimyuhafithoon
وَالَّذِيۡنَ
wa-alladhīna
And those who
اور وہ لوگ
هُمۡ
hum
[they]
وہ
عَلٰى
ʿalā
on
پر
صَلَاتِهِمۡ
ṣalātihim
their prayer
اپنی نمازوں
يُحَافِظُوۡنَؕ
yuḥāfiẓūna
keep a guard
حفاظت کرتے ہیں
Urdu —
اور وہ لوگ جو اپنی نمازوں کی حفاظت کرتے ہیںo
— English
And those who [carefully] maintain their prayer:
اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ فِىۡ جَنّٰتٍ مُّكۡرَمُوۡنَؕ
— Transliteration
Ola-ika fee jannatin mukramoon
اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ
ulāika
Those
یہی لوگ
فِىۡ
fī
(will be) in
میں
جَنّٰتٍ
jannātin
Gardens
باغوں
مُّكۡرَمُوۡنَؕ
muk'ramūna
honored
عزت سے رکھے جانے والے ہیں
Urdu —
یہی لوگ ہیں جو جنتوں میں معزّز و مکرّم ہوں گےo
— English
They will be in gardens, honored.
فَمَالِ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا قِبَلَكَ مُهۡطِعِيۡنَۙ
— Transliteration

فَمَالِ
famāli
So what is with
تو کیا ہے
الَّذِيۡنَ
alladhīna
those who
ان لوگوں کو
كَفَرُوۡا
kafarū
disbelieve
جنہوں نے کفر کیا
قِبَلَكَ
qibalaka
before you
آپ کی طرف۔ آپ کے سامنے
مُهۡطِعِيۡنَۙ
muh'ṭiʿīna
(they) hasten
دوڑ کے آنے والے ہیں
Urdu —
تو کافروں کو کیا ہو گیا ہے کہ آپ کی طرف دوڑے چلے آرہے ہیںo
— English
So what is [the matter] with those who disbelieve, hastening [from] before you, [O Muhammad],
عَنِ الۡيَمِيۡنِ وَعَنِ الشِّمَالِ عِزِيۡنَ
— Transliteration
AAani alyameeni waAAani ashshimaliAAizeen
عَنِ
ʿani
On
سے
الۡيَمِيۡنِ
l-yamīni
the right
دائیں طرف
وَعَنِ
waʿani
and on
طرف سے
الشِّمَالِ
l-shimāli
the left
اور بائیں
عِزِيۡنَ
ʿizīna
(in) separate groups
گرو درگروہ
Urdu —
دائیں جانب سے (بھی) اور بائیں جانب سے (بھی) گروہ در گروہo
— English
[To sit] on [your] right and [your] left in separate groups?
اَيَطۡمَعُ كُلُّ امۡرِىۡءٍ مِّنۡهُمۡ اَنۡ يُّدۡخَلَ جَنَّةَ نَعِيۡمٍۙ
— Transliteration
AyatmaAAu kullu imri-in minhum anyudkhala jannata naAAeem
اَيَطۡمَعُ
ayaṭmaʿu
Does long
کیا لالچ رکھتا ہے
كُلُّ
kullu
every
ہر
امۡرِىءٍ
im'ri-in
person
شخص
مِّنۡهُمۡ
min'hum
among them
ان میں سے
اَنۡ
an
that
کہ
يُّدۡخَلَ
yud'khala
he enters
داخل کیا جائے
جَنَّةَ
jannata
a Garden
جنت میں
نَعِيۡمٍۙ
naʿīmin
(of) Delight
نعمتوں بھری
Urdu —
کیا ان میں سے ہر شخص یہ توقع رکھتا ہے کہ وہ (بغیر ایمان و عمل کے) نعمتوں والی جنت میں داخل کر دیا جائے گا؟o
— English
Does every person among them aspire to enter a garden of pleasure?
كَلَّاؕ اِنَّا خَلَقۡنٰهُمۡ مِّمَّا يَعۡلَمُوۡنَ
— Transliteration
Kalla inna khalaqnahummimma yaAAlamoon
كَلَّا ؕ
kallā
By no means!
ہرگز نہیں
اِنَّا
innā
Indeed, We
بیشک ہم نے
خَلَقۡنٰهُمۡ
khalaqnāhum
[We] have created them
، پیدا کیا ہم نے ان کو
مِّمَّا
mimmā
from what
اس سے جو
يَعۡلَمُوۡنَ
yaʿlamūna
they know
وہ جانتے ہیں
Urdu —
ہرگز نہیں، بے شک ہم نے انہیں اس چیز سے پیدا کیا ہے جسے وہ (بھی) جانتے ہیںo
— English
No! Indeed, We have created them from that which they know.
فَلَاۤ اُقۡسِمُ بِرَبِّ الۡمَشٰرِقِ وَالۡمَغٰرِبِ اِنَّا لَقٰدِرُوۡنَۙ
— Transliteration
Fala oqsimu birabbi almashariqiwalmagharibi inna laqadiroon
فَلَاۤ
falā
But nay!
پس نہیں
اُقۡسِمُ
uq'simu
I swear
میں قسم کھاتا ہوں
بِرَبِّ
birabbi
by (the) Lord
رب کی
الۡمَشٰرِقِ
l-mashāriqi
(of) the risings
مشرقوں کے
وَالۡمَغٰرِبِ
wal-maghāribi
and the settings
اور مغربوں کے
اِنَّا
innā
that We
بیشک ہم
لَقٰدِرُوۡنَۙ
laqādirūna
(are) surely Able
البتہ قادر ہیں
Urdu —
سو میں مشارق اور مغارب کے رب کی قَسم کھاتا ہوں کہ بے شک ہم پوری قدرت رکھتے ہیںo
— English
So I swear by the Lord of [all] risings and settings that indeed We are able
عَلٰٓى اَنۡ نُّبَدِّلَ خَيۡرًا مِّنۡهُمۡۙ وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمَسۡبُوۡقِيۡنَ
— Transliteration
AAala an nubaddila khayran minhum wamanahnu bimasbooqeen
عَلٰٓى
ʿalā
To
اس بات پر
اَنۡ
an
that
کہ
نُّبَدِّلَ
nubaddila
[We] replace
ہم بدل دیں
خَيۡرًا
khayran
(with) better
بہتر
مِّنۡهُمۡۙ
min'hum
than them;
ان سے
وَمَا
wamā
and not
اور نہیں
نَحۡنُ
naḥnu
We
ہم
بِمَسۡبُوۡقِيۡنَ
bimasbūqīna
(are) to be outrun
سبقت لیے جانے والے
Urdu —
اس پر کہ ہم بدل کر ان سے بہتر لوگ لے آئیں، اور ہم ہرگز عاجز نہیں ہیںo
— English
To replace them with better than them; and We are not to be outdone.
فَذَرۡهُمۡ يَخُوۡضُوۡا وَيَلۡعَبُوۡا حَتّٰى يُلٰقُوۡا يَوۡمَهُمُ الَّذِىۡ يُوۡعَدُوۡنَۙ
— Transliteration
Fatharhum yakhoodoowayalAAaboo hatta yulaqoo yawmahumu allatheeyooAAadoon
فَذَرۡهُمۡ
fadharhum
So leave them
تو چھوڑ دو ان کو
يَخُوۡضُوۡا
yakhūḍū
(to) converse vainly
وہ بحثیں کریں
وَيَلۡعَبُوۡا
wayalʿabū
and amuse themselves
اور کھیل میں پڑیں۔ کھیلتے رہیں
حَتّٰى
ḥattā
until
یہاں تک کہ
يُلٰقُوۡا
yulāqū
they meet
وہ آ ملیں
يَوۡمَهُمُ
yawmahumu
their Day
اپنے دن کو
الَّذِىۡ
alladhī
which
وہ جو
يُوۡعَدُوۡنَۙ
yūʿadūna
they are promised
وہ وعدہ کیے جاتے ہیں
Urdu —
سو آپ انہیں چھوڑ دیجئے کہ وہ اپنی بے ہودہ باتوں اور کھیل تماشے میں پڑے رہیں یہاں تک کہ اپنے اس دن سے آملیں جس کا ان سے وعدہ کیا جا رہا ہےo
— English
So leave them to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised -
يَوۡمَ يَخۡرُجُوۡنَ مِنَ الۡاَجۡدَاثِ سِرَاعًا كَاَنَّهُمۡ اِلٰى نُصُبٍ يُّوۡفِضُوۡنَۙ
— Transliteration
Yawma yakhrujoona mina al-ajdathi siraAAankaannahum ila nusubin yoofidoon
يَوۡمَ
yawma
(The) Day
جس دن
يَخۡرُجُوۡنَ
yakhrujūna
they will come out
وہ نکلیں گے
مِنَ
mina
from
سے
الۡاَجۡدَاثِ
l-ajdāthi
the graves
قبروں
سِرَاعًا
sirāʿan
rapidly
دوڑتے ہوئے
كَاَنَّهُمۡ
ka-annahum
as if they (were)
گویا کہ وہ
اِلٰى
ilā
to
طرف
نُصُبٍ
nuṣubin
a al
آستانوں کے
يُّوۡفِضُوۡنَۙ
yūfiḍūna
hastening
دوڑتے ہیں
Urdu —
جس دن وہ قبروں سے دوڑتے ہوئے یوں نکلیں گے گویا وہ بتوں کے اَستھانوں کی طرف دوڑے جا رہے ہیںo
— English
The Day they will emerge from the graves rapidly as if they were, toward an erected idol, hastening.
خَاشِعَةً اَبۡصَارُهُمۡ تَرۡهَقُهُمۡ ذِلَّةٌ ؕ ذٰلِكَ الۡيَوۡمُ الَّذِىۡ كَانُوۡا يُوۡعَدُوۡنَ
— Transliteration
KhashiAAatan absaruhumtarhaquhum thillatun thalika alyawmu allatheekanoo yooAAadoon
خَاشِعَةً
khāshiʿatan
Humbled
دبی ہوئی ہوں گی۔ جھکی ہوئی ہوں گی
اَبۡصَارُهُمۡ
abṣāruhum
their eyesights
ان کی نگاہیں
تَرۡهَقُهُمۡ
tarhaquhum
will cover them
چھا رہی ہوں گی ان پر
ذِلَّةٌ ؕ
dhillatun
humiliation
ذلت
ذٰلِكَ
dhālika
That
یہ ہے
الۡيَوۡمُ
l-yawmu
(is) the Day
دن
الَّذِىۡ
alladhī
which
جو
كَانُوۡا
kānū
they were
وہ تھے
يُوۡعَدُوۡنَ
yūʿadūna
promised
وعدہ کیے گئے
Urdu —
(ان کا) حال یہ ہو گا کہ ان کی آنکھیں (شرم اور خوف سے) جھک رہی ہوں گی، ذِلت ان پر چھا رہی ہوگی، یہی ہے وہ دن جس کا ان سے وعدہ کیا جاتا تھاo
— English
Their eyes humbled, humiliation will cover them. That is the Day which they had been promised.
