Verse Meaning

According to the classical exegete Ibn Kathir, verse 10:20 of Surah Yunus addresses the persistent and obstinate demand of the disbelievers in Makkah for specific, tangible miracles. [2] They asked why a sign wasn't sent down to Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) similar to the she-camel of Thamud or for mountains to be turned into gold. The verse's response, as explained by Imam Al-Tabari, is a profound theological statement: 'Say, 'The Unseen (Al-Ghaib) is only for Allah.'' This means the decision of when, how, and what miracle to send is a matter of Allah's exclusive knowledge and wisdom, beyond human comprehension or demand. The verse concludes with a challenge: 'So wait; indeed, I am waiting with you.' This is not a passive wait, but an anticipation of Allah's ultimate judgment between truth and falsehood, a decisive statement of trust in the divine plan.
