Verse Meaning

According to the classical tafsir of Imam Al-Tabari, Quran 12:90 marks the dramatic climax of Prophet Yusuf's story, where he reveals his identity to his astonished brothers. After years of separation and hardship, their shock is captured in the question, 'Are you indeed Yusuf?'. His response, 'I am Yusuf, and this is my brother,' is followed by a profound declaration that encapsulates the central moral of the entire narrative: 'Indeed, he who fears Allah (has taqwa) and is patient (has sabr), then indeed, Allah does not allow to be lost the reward of the Muhsinin (good-doers).'
