Verse Meaning

According to the classical scholar Imam Al-Tabari, Quran 10:69 is a definitive statement from Allah, delivered through Prophet Muhammad, warning that those who fabricate falsehoods against Him will not achieve ultimate success. This fabrication, as Ibn Kathir explains, directly relates to grave sins like claiming Allah has a son. The core of the verse lies in the term 'la yuflihoon' (they will not succeed or prosper). Al-Qurtubi and other commentators clarify that this refers not to temporary worldly gains, but to the complete absence of success and salvation in the Hereafter. As Imam Sa'di elaborates, any apparent prosperity such individuals enjoy in this life is merely a brief enjoyment, which will be followed by a severe punishment. Therefore, the verse establishes a critical principle: true success is solely tied to truthfulness about Allah and adherence to His revelation.
