Verse Meaning

According to the classical exegete Imam Al-Tabari, verse 105:2, 'Did He not make their plot go astray?', signifies how Allah completely nullified and diverted the efforts of Abraha and his army from their intended goal of destroying the Kaaba. Ibn Kathir reinforces this, stating that Allah destroyed them and turned them back in their rage, having gained nothing. Al-Waseet adds a crucial linguistic insight, explaining that although the army came openly, their action is termed 'kayd' (a secret plot) because their hidden envy and hatred were far greater than what they displayed.
